01 / MEET YOUR COACH

I’m Fraser.

I’m a coach, endurance athlete and the person behind moaifit, a small-group gym at West of Scotland Cricket Club in Partick. I like helping people get stronger so they can do more of what they love.

02 / HOW I GOT HERE

From school rugby to Friday nights.

I was 15 when I started coaching the first-year rugby team at school. Later I set up a mountain bike business and spent time helping people find their feet on a bike. I kept finding myself in situations where I could help someone have a go at something and get a bit better at it.

After rugby, a pal suggested I try CrossFit. I found excuses for about six months. The honest reason was that I was nervous about being a beginner again. I finally signed up in 2020, trained for a year and liked the care the coaches took enough to book my Level 1 course.

Friday evenings were some of the first classes I coached. I’d come away buzzing after watching someone get the hang of something they’d been working on for weeks. I’m now a CrossFit Level 2 trainer and Level 3 personal trainer. I still love that bit of the job most.

03 / LEAN INTO IT

Give it a go.

I wrote about those Friday nights in Lean Into It, my book about learning to love yourself in your twenties. Booking the course made something clear that I’d been thinking about for ages. I wanted to spend more of my time coaching.

That’s part of where moaifit comes from. I want to build a gym where you can show up as a beginner, ask the question, get a bit stronger and have folk around you who are glad you came. If that gives you the confidence to get back on your bike or say aye to a big day in the hills, even better.
